Gravical is one of Singapore’s largest bouldering competitions held annually by the Singapore Management University (SMU) since 2007. Organised by SMU Climb Team, It has fully grown into a staple of Singapore’s climbing circuit and attracted 800 participants, both locally and internationally, in its latest year of operation in 2015.
Gravical has 4 different difficulty categories, namely – Under 17, Novice, Intermediate and the well-raved Open category. This allows a variety of participants ranging from students from secondary schools and tertiary institutions to professional climbers as well as members of the public. Since the first Gravical in 2007, the event has aimed to promote the sport of rock climbing to the local scene in Singapore and an active lifestyle among youths. In addition, the event serves as an opportunity for the climbing community as well as the public to experience a world-class sport-climbing event, a goal Gravical is expanding towards each year.
As the years go by, Gravical also prides itself in being able to obtain recognition globally and attract international climbers like
Bouldering World Cup Medallist Akiyo Noguchi in 2015. Gravical 2015 was graced by over 700 participants and attracted close to 4,000 spectators.
