NATIONAL YOUTH SPORT CLIMBING CHAMPIONSHIP 2010

The National Youth Sport Climbing Championship (NYSCC) is a National Competition that is organised by People’s Association Water-Venture (PAWV) and supported by Singapore Mountaineering Federation (SMF).  The competition will be held on the 10, 11, 17 & 18 July 2010 at Water-Venture (Pasir Ris).

The NYSCC include Lead, Speed and Speed Relay (Mixed).  The NYSCC shall include the following age categories:

a)      Youth B Male & Female: competitors must be born in either 1995 or 1996

b)      Youth A Male & Female: competitors must be born in either 1993 or 1994

c)       Junior Male & Female: competitors must be born in either 1991 or 1992

d)      Senior Male & Female: competitors must be born in either 1990 or 1975

Registration Fees shall be:

a)    Early Bird S$10, Normal S$15 per person – Speed/Lead Individual Category

b)    Early Bird S$18, Normal S$25 per team     – Speed Mixed Relay Category (1 Male and 1 Female)

Early Bird ends Sun, 30 May 2010.

Closing Date for registration : Sat, 19 June 2010 at 12pm (Closing date has been extended to Sun, 27 Jun 2010.)

Payment can be made in cash, cheque or NETs, upon registration. All cheques are to be made payable to “PA Water-Venture” and submitted with registration forms duly signed. Forms and cheque can be dropped off at: PA Water-Venture (Pasir Ris), 125 Elias Road Singapore 519926.

5TH NATIONAL SCHOOLS SPORT CLIMBING CHAMPIONSHIP 2010

The 5th National Schools Sport Climbing Championship was held on 17th, 18th, 24th & 25th April 2010 at SAFRA Adventure Sports Centre.  Here are the results for the Finals:

RENEWAL OF INSTRUCTORS LICENSE AND ISSUE OF T-SHIRT

ALL SNCS Instructor license will expire on 31 Mar 2010.  Application for the license renewal is now opened and all eligible instructors are invited to forward us your application for the renewal exercise.

To apply, please submit the following documents together with your application form :

a.  Valid First Aid certificates with 3 years validity. Please see Annex A for the SSC recognised course providers. Besides the list, we do accept certificates issued by the SAF medical centre, Civil Defence and Ministry of Health;

b.  Recent passport size photograph;

c.  $50 renewal fee (cash, if application is made in person or cheque made payable to: Singapore Mountaineering Federation for application made by mail)

d.  T-shirt size (Asian size of S, M, L, XL of XXL);

e.  List of 3 courses conducted in each calendar year; and

f.   Update of particulars form

ALL applications should reach SMF office by 20 Mar 2010 to facilitate us in preparing the license and the update of our current instructor listings in the SMF website.

We regret that all applications received after the date will not be immediately process and subsequent exercise will only be conducted within the next 3 months with same validity period of those done earlier.

NEW REVISED SYLLABUS FOR SNCS & SNAS COURSE

Dear Climbing & Abseiling Instructors

We are pleased to inform that the new climbing and abseiling course syllabus have been approved and finalized. The following course syllabus will take immediate effect.  As of 1 March 2010, please conduct the following courses
based on the attached adjusted syllabus:

1.       Sport Climbing Course Level One (SCCL1)

2.       Sport Climbing Course Level Two (SCCL2)

3.       Activity Supervisor Course (ASC)

4.       Abseiling Proficiency Course Level One (APCL1)

5.       Abseiling Proficiency Course Level Two (APCL2)
 
Outstanding syllabus

Sport Climbing Course Level 3 - Please do not conduct any Sport Climbing Level 3 course as they have not been finalized.

ITC [Cat 2] - Instructors may continue with the currently syllabus till new updates can be finalised.

APC3 - Continued to be conducted at OBS, we will update the syllabus into the SNAS syllabus.
 

Please provide feedback to  soomy@singnet.com.sg if you encounter any issues with the new syllabus (esp for SCCL2). It is only with your valuable feedback that we are able to maintain a good teaching system.
 

NOMINATION OF ATHLETES FOR THE NATIONAL CLIMBING TEAM CLIMBING TRIAL

SMF will be commencing the National Team Trainings in Mar 2010 to prepare our team for the various competitions like the Asian Youth Championship, Asian Championship and South East Asia Circuit.

We take this opportunity to invite you to nominate your climbers for a climbing trial on the following dates:

Speed

Sat, 20 Feb and Sun, 21 Feb 2010 from 9am to 6pm at Meridian Junior College; and

Lead

Sat, 27 Feb and Sun, 28 Feb 2010 from 9am to 6pm at Water Venture @ Pasir Ris.

The minimum climbing criteria for the various age group nominations are as follows:

SMF would however be most happy to consider any other climbers that possess good potentials despite them slightly not meeting the above criteria. The selected climbers will subsequently be required to attend the next selection phase including an interview sessions before being drafted into the National Team Trainings.
